Threadless and their Artist Shops
Posted on April 30 2015
This new setup will act as a way to create your own online shop, be it selling prints to clothing where you can set your own inventory and prices.
We love the guys at Threadless, from buying our first cool t shirts from the small options they had on offer many years ago to now seeing they've spent time and focus on the direction of the company and have introduced Artist Shops, which enables wanna-be store owns to sit under the umbrella of a major site which is respected and ranked high (if not the top) of the online tee business.
T Shirts aren't just wearable art on your body, the graphics can be used on phone cases and they've moved past offering Tshirt contests.
Aimed at "artists" which is a more general term, it's targeted towards graphic designers who make accessory images, t-shirts, wall prints and so on. Threadless are smart because they see this as a side division of the company itself. Sure, everyone loves to go to the site, purchase a tee and come back later. But to actually be in control of your own site, stock and determining the price, that's the way the future is heading with the "average joe" picking up web skills from Facebook, twitter and Wordpress. They might not have the technical ability, but they are savvy enough to know what they want and expect sites nowadays to provide it to them, so they're in control of their future.
I'm just waiting to see how this plays out, if Threadless abandon their main site and focus on the social aspects of letting the public sell their own goods (and reaping the rewards). Online stores will launch later this year (at this time of writing, you can make double your earnings if you reserve a store now). See the https://www.threadless.com/artist-shops/ Artist Shops for more information.
Retro look at Tshirts and Art
All merchandise comes from Threadless, if you want to take a look.
Wow what a great tee mashup of Curious George and The Joker image from The Dark Knight (Batman).
Not really a tshirt, but it was popular in it's day - it's a car bumper sticker.
Taken from one of The Beatles album covers, here they are represented as the insect species, different types of dung beetle.
Group all the communist's together, draw them and stick them on a tee and this the result...party time!
A funny statement printed saying how Scientists lied to them about the future.
Using the famous phrase from Scarface, Al Pacino said this and here it's represented as a ton of TNT.
An old gramaphone with the star system blasting out of it, very cool.
Amazing use of chequed patterns using a simplistic design showing a snail and his friend.
A great and funny take on Steven *Segal*, using the same style and haircut, look at the faces of the other seagulls!
A series of something you want, in this case they want a blue sky.
A visualisation of the play on words "High 5".
The guy who started that weird cats site with text is a multi-millionaire, whilst the rest of us can buy the tshirt.
Mixing Back to the Future with Dinosaurs, remember to to travel to the end of time too much!
