Rachio's Smart Lawn Sprinkler System
Posted on July 6 2015
Rachio are taking home automation to the next level as garden owners can make financial savings, cut down on wasted water and save time.
The Rachio Iro is an internet-functioning smart sprinkler controller that connects securely through your home's WiFI via an app. It will monitor and check the outdoor temperature around your home by using localised data to customise your sprinkler system.
The effects of climate control are a serious concern, combined with scarce natural resources means there is a potential irreversible cost to the environment. The EPA Estimates nearly 3.9 Billion gallons of water are being wasted per day by inefficient landscape irrigation systems, which is a wake up call to reducing wasteful watering practices and conserving water.
Current sprinkler systems in place often involve disabling a timer manually. The idea of being away from home or abroad when there's a thunderstorm or water restrictions in place, then simply making the changes by connecting to your iPhone (or any other smartphone) is now possible with this device.
By using the Iro, it automatically adjusts and waters your garden at optimal times based your specific zones so it's designed to use as little water as possible whilst keeping your landscape healthy and looking at it's best.
Retailing for $249 to $299 depending upon the zones you select, the Iro is for indoor use only or outdoors with a weatherproof enclosure. You can install it simply by replacing your existing controller module. The only requirements are that you have an electronically controlled system already in place and that you have an iOS or Android device to run it via the app.
